Maleda Crafts is more than a business — it’s a movement of empowerment, sustainability, and hope.

Founded by Alemayehu Mulat, Maleda Crafts tackles two urgent challenges facing Ethiopia today:

1️⃣ Rising plastic and textile pollution

2️⃣ Limited economic opportunities for disadvantaged women

Every month, our team collects and upcycles:
♻️ 200 kg of plastic waste
♻️ 150 kg of textile waste

Instead of ending up in rivers, streets, or landfills, this waste is transformed into functional, beautiful, eco-friendly products — bags, mats, accessories, décor items and more.

But the magic behind Maleda Crafts goes far beyond upcycling…

Many of our employees are women who were previously unemployed, underpaid, or excluded from economic opportunity.
